Content creators can now manage, monetize, and deliver content with one solution
Content creators can now manage, monetize, and deliver content with one solution
LOS ANGELES, CA – MAY 21, 2008— EdgeCast Networks, the superior, cost-effective rich media content delivery network (CDN), and Castfire, creators of a leading mediacasting platform, today announced a partnership that will greatly ease the management, monetization and delivery of audio and video content.
In the past, content creators needed various multimedia tools for editing content, integrating RSS functionality, adding advertising, exporting for various devices and formats, and then distributing their content. They then needed to coordinate the delivery end - ensuring their content was properly staged around the world so their viewers or listeners would have an ideal experience.
This new partnership enables content creators to accomplish it all with a single toolset. The Castfire media management and delivery suite puts the tools needed for the entire process at media creators’ fingertips, and now is tightly integrated into the EdgeCast content delivery network.
The EdgeCast integration frees creators from delivery worries; whether their users are in Tokyo or Los Angeles, Sydney or London, the EdgeCast network ensures that the multimedia files are staged as close as possible to the end user. This provides the ideal listening or viewing experience for the user and ends the frustration of low quality or streams that are choppy or dropped.
“While working with mutual customers, we realized that there was an opportunity here to help our content creators ease their production burdens as well,” said James Segil, president of EdgeCast Networks. “By opening our network to the Castfire media management suite, Castfire customers can now place their content at the world’s doorstep without incurring the cost of installing servers around the world.”
“At Castfire, we’ve created a turn-key publishing platform that handles the management and monetization of large bodies of content, automatically distributes media to multiple syndication partners that each have unique business rules, and integrates into the evolving video ecosystem. But the piece that was missing was the ability to quickly deliver that content to end points around the globe,” said Robert Kohler, co-founder of Castfire. “That ability is a multi-million dollar investment that our customers are generally unable to make. But with this partnership, we are able to offer that - and by doing so, we’re putting the final piece into the multimedia management and distribution puzzle.”
EdgeCast has built a global content delivery network designed for today’s rich media Internet. Engineered with high-performance speed and a highly scalable, globally load balanced architecture that supports massive audiences and flash crowds, the EdgeCast network outperforms rivals by significant margins. Customers are experiencing dramatic performance improvements and substantial cost savings when switching from competitors such as Limelight Networks, Akamai and Vitalstream/Internap.
